Italian Sweet Wine from Sardinia
Sardinia is one of the wine growing regions on the rise and has been producing wines with a lot of personality and robustness.
As the second largest island in the Mediterranean, just behind Sicily, has already been invaded and commanded by various kingdoms and empires to the very beginning of history, and therefore has great culinary diversity, linguistic, architectural and, of course, wine.
The winegrowers in the region are very committed to creating wines of exceptional quality that are gaining international recognition day after day. Sardinia is today one of the great promises of the wine world.

The Grapes Nasco
Nasco is an ancient variety grown exclusively on Italy's second-largest island, Sardinia.
It is a light-skinned grape that is permitted to make sweet passito and fortified liquoroso wines in the southern half of the island, both under Sardinia's own Nasco di Cagliari DOC label.
In Sardinian dialect, Nasco is known as Nascu, a name derived from the Latin word muscus, in reference to the variety's unmistakably musky scent.
Nasco vines tend to yield very little fruit and the variety has low resistance to fungal disease; consquently its popularity has steadily declined. It was, in fact, close to extinction, but a committed few are making efforts to ensure its survival.
A few examples of dry wines containing Nasco do exist outside the DOC, produced by blending the variety with Sardinia's most planted white, Vermentino.
